List of World Heritage by UNESCO in Belarus

There are four objects in my country. This is  Struve Geodetic Arc, Belovezhskaya Pushcha, Mir castle and Nyasvizh castle.

Belovezhskaya Pushcha - is a huge forest in western Belarus and Poland. Its area - 150,000 square kilometers. On the territory of more than six forest river flows, there are two lakes. There are more than 900 species of higher plants, more than 2,000 varieties of mushrooms, 500 - moss and lichens. This is the last place in the world where the natural condition of living very large animal European bands - bison.

Struve Geodetic Arc. It is a network of 265 geodetic points. Each of them - stone cube 2x2 m, laid in the ground.
Doug passed through the territory of Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine. Its dielectric - more than 2820 km. Created was this amazing man-made monument to the human mind 150 years ago with a single goal - to accurately measure the size and shape of the Earth.

Why is it in order to see the run geodesic miracle is to come to Belarus? The fact that out of 265 points, only 34 survived. And in the territory of Belarus is 19 geodetic points - more than any other country!

Mir Castle is an outstanding work of the Belarusian architecture. In  architecture found a visible reflection of the feudal era: for the strong walls and towers was a rich palace. Made of stone and brick, surrounded by ramparts, bastions and moats with water, locking  monumentality and inaccessibility personified strength and unlimited power of the feudal lord.

Just 100 kilometers from Minsk and 30 of the Slutsk, in the Grodno region of Belarus, is the village Mir, the first mention of which dates from the 1395 year. But the Mir Castle - the first architectural monument of Belarus, made in the List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage by UNESCO in 2000.

Nyasvizh castle is a palace and castle complex located in north-eastern town of Shults in the Minsk region of Belarus. In the XVI-XIX centuries - the residence of the princes Radziwill. Once the castle was the center of cultural integrity and medieval art. It housed a rich library, where it was collected 20,000 volumes, had a wide collection of weapons of European, Japanese, Arabic and Chinese artists, famous Slutsk belts, a collection of coins and medals. There was a picture gallery, where you could see paintings by famous artists.

You can hit on a virtual tour of the Nyasvizh castle HERE. Unfortunately the site does not contain an English version, but there is a very beautiful photos of this unique castle.

And finally, I want to say that the two castles (Mir and Nyasvizh) has recently been under reconstruction. Many visitors to the castle say that reconstruction is not successful, that the castles have lost their individuality. (((
