Belarus or Turkmenistan?

I am absolutely sure and I remember that I already wrote about this problem. But I could not find my post, alas.

OK, I will write again.

So, in 2010 or 2011, the  governor of Gomel Region ordered to cut down all the trees along the roads. He pursued a specific goal. The governor ordered to plant rye on the vacated land. The area of the field has not officially changed, but in reality each field has become larger. This means that the governor can write that field productivity has increased. High authorities praised the governor.

In those years, trees disappeared along all roads. People knocked them out. But no one stopped there. I will tell only what I saw myself. I saw how they destroyed a beautiful landscape with small ponds and many bushes. Tractors plowed the ground, uprooted bushes. The boundaries of the ponds have changed. Now it resembles large pits with water on the outskirts of the field.

The head believed that he would increase the yield of the field. He was wrong. Strong winds began after the felling of trees. Winds blew off the upper fertile soil layer. The winds began to blow very strongly.

But the boss was marked by favor and went on a promotion. He has been living in the capital for many years.

And now I will show you how the land of my region has changed in 9 years. Photos were taken by the Belarusian photographer Sergey Plytkevich.
How many seasons can these fields produce before they turn into desert?
